SKILL BUILDING
SKILL BUILDING (You only fight as well as you train) Practice is the key to developing firearm handling skills. Building on the basics you have already learned will help develop accuracy and speed. The confidence gained in practice is invaluable. There are a number of clubs and organizations around the state. Pistol leagues help develop confidence and accuracy in a friendly competitive environment. New permit holders are often intimidated by the thought of showing up at a league shoot. This is good and bad. The good part is shooting with some league shooters will be a bit stressful at first but at the same time experienced shooters will help new shooters improve their skills. The bad part is not participating because one feels stressed or not capable of shooting well.  What would you feel and what would you do  if a real self defense situation occurred? The stress felt at a league shoot with friendly people willing to help is way less than anyone would every encounter in a real life self defense shooting. You don’t always have to join a league to  participate. Leagues often allow new shooters to step in to get a feel for the event/s. You can also get with experienced shooters on non-league nights and work together. Shooters like to work with other people as they like to see their sport grow.
